ISTD is the acronym for Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and is headquartered in London. This board is responsible for teaching and conducting examinations and is a registered board for certifying dance teachers across the world. The syllabus of the board includes various dance forms and is dedicated towards providing quality education in dance through its certified teachers. The dance styles are offered as a course with a graded exam or a medal test to determine the candidate’s success. This educational board has more people pursuing dance as a hobby than as a career path. The examinations are in a structured format from a beginner stage to a professional stage. Once the dancers have achieved a higher score in their ISTD graded examinations, they can further pursue professional examinations which will certify them as teachers of dance. The candidates can choose from the three different professional examinations offered here namely the Global Dancesport, Rest of the World Theatre Exams and the European Union Theatre exams.The most noted form of examinations with ISTD which is followed by many other dancing organisations is the medal test. ISTD were the first organisation to make use of the medal tests widely for all their tests.
